NT Travel
Northern Territory border rules
If you’re fully vaccinated you can enter the Northern Territory without having to quarantine.
Those 15 years and under will be considered vaccinated for the purposes of entry into the NT only.
Those who are allowed to enter the NT must:
- Complete a Border Entry Form before arriving in the NT. This form is available at coronavirus.nt.gov.au.
- Have a rapid antigen test (or, RAT) on arrival.
- Do further rapid antigen tests on days 3 and 6.
From Tuesday 1 February 2022, travellers will no longer need to do RAT tests on arrival or on days 3 and 6. However, they will still need to complete a Border Entry Form.
You can travel anywhere in the Northern Territory except to an exclusion zone during the 14 days after you arrive in the NT. Exclusion zones are communities that have a full vaccination rate of less than 80 per cent for residents aged 5 years and over.
If you’re a resident, boarding school student, essential worker, or family member of an essential worker you can return to your home within an exclusion zone if you meet certain conditions. For details, go to coronavirus.nt.gov.au. Click on ‘Border Entry to the NT from 20 December 2021’.
Unvaccinated returning Territorians and people approved to enter the NT need to complete 14 days mandatory supervised quarantine at their own cost.
Unvaccinated visitors are not allowed to enter the NT.
You will need to download the G2G Now app — from the G2G Now app website — before arrival in the Territory. From Tuesday 1 February 2022, this is no longer a requirement.
For information on face-mask rules in the NT, see ‘Face masks — Northern Territory‘ in the Restriction Checker.

Entering remote communities
Anyone entering a remote community in the NT for the purpose of work must have had 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Entering a low-vaccination remote community
A low-vaccination-rate remote community is any remote community with a vaccination rate under 70% or any of the 29 communities controlled by the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO).
Anyone who enters one of these communities must wear a mask at all times in public for 7 days after they arrive.
Anyone entering these communities from Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine or any location outside of the Northern Territory must have a rapid antigen test 72 hours before entering the community.
Go to coronavirus.nt.gov.au and click ‘Remote work and travel’ for more information.
