Day 1 – Overland to Kununurra departing from Darwin at 700 am (fly to Kununurra options available). Travel via the Stuart Highway via Adelaide River, and Katherine, the NT’s 3rd largest town. We turn west on the Victoria Highway (part of the Savannah Way) and pass through rich cattle country and spectacular rugged mountain landscapes through Gregory National Park to Victoria River and Timber Creek. Enjoy views of the Stokes Range. We travel to cross the NT/WA state border and arrive in Kununurra for overnight.
Day 2 – Time to look around Kununurra, and check out the fabulous art galleries displaying local works. Depart for El Questro, a million acres of spectacular Kimberley scenery, rivers and gorges. Its here that the movie Australia was filmed, nestled under the Cockburn Ranges. This morning soak up the relaxing Zebedee hot springs, before a cruise in the Chamberlain River Gorge and viewing from Pigeon Lookout over the Pentecost River. Overnight at El Questro. BL. Day 3 – Explore more of the El Questro treats including morning El Questro Gorge walk, and Moonshine Gorge, Afternoon free time to relax by the river, or choose optional activities including local walks, scenic flights, horse riding or 4WD tours. BL Dinner at ELQ.
Day 4 – Today we journey the the scenic and spectacular Gibb River Road via Cockburn Range, to cross the mighty Pentecost River and view from a high vantage point. We stop to view some Aboriginal rock art including Wandjina and Bradshaw (Gion Gion) rock art. Enjoy a break at a bird lovers billabong. We visit Home Valley Station, some fabulous Aboriginal rock art and Mt Barnett Roadhouse and enjoy more rock art and stories. Arrive to relax or be creative by the beautiful swimming hole at our campsite at Manning Gorge. Here we can meet some of the local Ngarinyin Aboriginal people for some time together , and hear insights into the dreamtime and local culture. BLD

Day 5 – Enjoy an early morning swim in the adjacent Manning Gorge waterhole, then first stop this morning, we take a short walk off the road to Galvan’s Gorge for more rock art, great scenery and good swimming and photos too! Potential for optional flight over the unique and nearby Spider Crater. We travel on via Imitji Aboriginal community before an afternoon walk inWindjana Gorge with the abundant wildlife and numerous freshwater crocodiles in this eerie, ancient seabed environment.Overnight Windjana Gorge. Day 6 – Enjoy an early morning walk in Windjana Gorge before we travel the scenic and short distance to nearby Tunnel Creek, where we walk through this 600 m long underground river system to a hidden waterhole. Our day includes a tasty picnic lunch and optional swim in the waterhole before we call in to the new Mowanjum Art Centre (meet the artists, opportunity to buy art from source) at the Mowanjum Aboriginal Community. We visit Derby and the wharf with the 30ft (10 m) tides on the southern shores of King Sound. Tonight is the famous Mowanjum Festival, a showcase of local Aboriginal culture at the Mowanjum Community, and new Wandjina Art Centre. Its the official opening too – so a big night not to be missed. We see the festival highlights and take time to view the many new artworks (and some bargains too) on display, created for the festival. Overnight in Derby BLD
Day 7 – Today we see some of the biggest and oldest Boabs in the Kimberley, including the infamous Prison Tree near Derby.We arrive Broome around midday and take lunch at our comfy campsite. Time for a look at some Broome highlights, a swim at Cable Beach and snacks on the beach at sunset over looking the Indian Ocean. Here you can also take an optional camel ride. After tasty treats on Cable Beach, we enjoy a meal at a local restaurant before overnight in Broome at our Cable Beach base.BLD
Day 8 – Celebrate with a morning swim and breakfast at Cable Beach before flights home, or options include a scenic flight to the Horizontal Waterfalls or visit the Willie Creek Pearl Farm, or simply shop or relax in Broome’s balmy climate. Tour ends after breakfast at 10 am. If you wish store your gear with us to enjoy the day before flights home or alternate destinations or consider travelling with us to Alice Springs via the Tanami Track, Wolfe Creek Crater and art centres.
