NOTE - below describes Westbound
journey. Eastbound is reverse departing Broome 1 pm,
arrive Alice Springs by 4pm
Day 1
- Depart Alice Springs for Tanami Track
at 1pm (we meet 1pm flight from Sydney or
other ports). A three hour journey heads you toward
some of the remotest country in Australia. Enjoy the
rich collection of Aboriginal art
available here at Tillmouth Wells - including from
Mt Allan, Papunya, Yuendumu. Overnight
Tillmouth
Wells camp roadhouse & campground.
Day 2
- Visit the world famous
Warlukurlangu artists at
Yuendumu, and the
Papunya Tula artists at
Papunya. Meet the artists at work. You can buy
their art directly from source. After a good
connection with the locals, we "up the track"
through this extraordinary and remote country - by
the great Tanami and Granites gold mines, and old
abandoned wells from gold rush & cattle droving days
to Rabbit Flat Roadhouse to stock up on essentials
then to our camp for overnight in the real
nowhere.
Day 3
- Arrive at
Balgo Art
Centre in the remote Balgo Community
near Lake Gregory and meet the
Warlayirti artists at work. Enjoy the warm local hospitality and the rich
and unique Aboriginal art pieces on display - ready for you to
purchase at best bargain rates direct from the
source if you wish. Depart Balgo for nearby
Billiluna Aboriginal community and
cattle station for a look around then a short drive to the amazing
Wolfe Creek Crater - the worlds second largest
meteorite crater where the rainbow serpent entered
the Earth. We can take a walk in the crater or enjoy
the view from the crater rim. Overnight camp at
majestic Wolfe Creek crater.

Louisa Downs station on to Fitzroy Crossing via
spectacular McClintock & Mueller mountain ranges,
and vast cattle stations (including SR Kidman & Co's
"Ruby Plains") for overnight at
Fitzroy Crossing.
Day 5
- After breakfast enjoy a relaxing Geike Gorge river
cruise on the vast Fitzroy River, and marvel at the
high cliffs, annual flood records, stunning wildlife
and river tales from our knowledgeable local guide.
After a morning cuppa, and some comfortable highway
cruising we enjoy lunch under one of the biggest
boab trees in the Kimberley on the Savannah Way. On
through stunning mesa landscape and rich grasslands
we arrive in Broome for sunset celebration at
Cable Beach and an
optional swim in the Indian Ocean watching the
sunset.
